CJSeto Support Services, LLC, a Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business based in Ventura, CA, has a requirement for an experienced Industrial Hygienist to support the Veterans Affairs in the Bay Area.

Specific Tasks:

The position will manage various industrial hygiene programs either solely or in conjunction with facility industrial hygienist or other staff assigned by the Chief, Safety and Emergency Management. The position carries out assignments associated with specific larger projects and manages some smaller projects. The position includes working as a team leader and/or expert team member in projects and guiding junior team members in industrial hygiene practices. Work assignments are varied and require some originality and ingenuity. The position will use monitoring and analytical methods to detect the extent of worker exposure and employ engineering, work practice controls, and other methods to control potential health hazards. The position works independently or as a team member dependent on scope of the project at hand and/or as directed. The position conducts in-the-field or worksite health hazard evaluations, and promotes effective occupational health practices throughout the supported wings and geographically separated units.

Tasks include:
  • Conducting comprehensive surveys and evaluations.
  • Review Federal, state and departmental regulatory requirements
  • Reviewing blueprints, designs, plans and specifications for new construction, alteration of facilities, or new processes that includes new materials that are toxic in nature. 
  • Plans, conducts and oversees sampling processes using various instrumentation and equipment.
  • Assessing, planning for and recommending equipment and supplies for mission accomplishment.
Working knowledge:
  • IH concepts, practices and principles
  • Ability to recognize workplace and environmental factors and stresses associated with work operations
  • Ability to use a wide range of IH sampling techniques and instrumentation.
  • Ability to conduct air sampling evaluations and assess the associated hazards.
  • Recommend control measures for a wide variety of health hazards/
  • Ability to plan and execute multi-faceted projects.
  • Ability to plan, organize work, and meet deadlines.
Education and Experience:
  • BS degree in Chemistry, Biology, Physics, or Health Sciences plus 5 years of recent (less than 4 years gap) IH experience; OR
  • MS plus 3 years of recent (less than 4 years gap) IH experience.
