Environmental Scientist (Air Specialist)

Remote Work No - Work is onsite daily; however, we do allow 2 days of remote work, if no work on base is required
Description of work Provide overall environmental compliance support for the Clean Air Act/Title V program including, but not limited to: conducting monthly site inspections, preparing permit-required reports (quarterly/semi-annual/
annual compliance, emission unit-specific, emissions inventory, etc.), maintaining program documentation, preparing permitting packages, conducting Volatile Organic Compound reviews for new hazardous materials, conducting annual Ozone Depleting Substances audit, maintaining awareness of regulations as they apply to the program and Title V Air Quality Operating Permit.
Education Required Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution in Environmental Science or Management or comparable field.
Years of Experience Required Candidate will have:
- at least three (3) years of related work history in clean air act compliance and permitting.
Skills Required Candidate must be a resident of the Crane, IN area (within approx. 30 miles) or willing to relocate to the Crane, IN area.
Strong verbal and written skills.
Demonstrate basic understanding and knowledge of the following;
- Title 40 Code of Federal Regulations Federal regulation
- Title V Clean Air act Air regulations

Ability to communicate with auditors from regulatory agencies and Department of Defense (DoD) audit teams.

Ability to communicate with multiple levels of organization (floor/shop-level, supervisors, customers, senior leadership, etc.).

Experience with conducting compliance inspections for environmental compliance; conducting follow-up, developing corrective actions plans and Plans of Action and Milestones (POAMs), tracking findings/corrective actions, documenting closure of findings with objective evidence (photos, updated documents, etc), and updating tracking/management systems.

Ability to assist with large project management: Organization, Planning input; Subject matter expert input; Coordination with project specific contractors; Coordination with government environmental media managers; Overall participation in the completion of such projects

Familiarity with Environmental Management System (ISO 14001) to participate with collaborative EMS conformance team for the base.

Ability to participate meetings to present compliance status.
Security Clearance Required Secret
Certifications/Certificates required None at this time, but could include 40-hour HAZWOPER
Preferences Previous experience with Department of Defense (DoD) - either on a contracting team or directly with the DoD.
40-hour HAZWOPER certification
